Pre-K
Our full-day Pre-K program for four-year-olds exposes children to a variety of interesting discovery-centered activities designed to arouse curiosity, encourage creativity, and promote problem solving. The students participate in interactive writing and readiness activities in reading and math. We use the Creative Curriculum to guide instruction as well as observing the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) guidelines. The ECERS is a classroom assessment tool designed to measure the quality of group programs for children ages two through five, by collecting data through classroom observations and a staff interview.
Kindergarten & First Grade
Our kindergarten and first grade academic programs focus on balanced literacy, hands-on mathematics and inquiry-based science programs that support the New Jersey Student Learning Standards. Each year, exciting new instructional materials are added to the programs. We provide opportunities for learning by building strong values with our Character Education Program. Our students are also exposed to different character traits monthly. The students are rewarded when they demonstrate respect, honesty, compassion, responsibility and self-discipline.
PTA (Parent-Teacher Association)
The A.P. Morris Early Childhood Center has a dedicated teaching staff, competent support staff, and helpful PTA working together to meet the needs of all students. Our PTA supports and coordinates a variety of enjoyable activities for our families and staff members.
