Our full-day first grade program builds upon our preschool and kindergarten foundations. Students built on their academic capabilities. There are 10 sections of first grade at A.P. Morris. 2 sections have inclusive programs for students with special needs. The students have 120 minutes of language arts and 80 minutes of mathematics instruction daily. Students additionally receive additional time weekly for social studies, science and health. Enrichment periods allow staff to give each student individualized activities based on their academic skill set.
Students have 20 minutes of recess daily built into the schedule.

ASSESSMENT
Students are assessed informally and formally throughout the school year. Progress on assessments is communicated with families by the classroom teacher. Grades can be viewed in the Genesis Parent Portal (see report card website below for registration information).
Students receive a standards-based report card each trimester that assesses their capabilities based on the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
