There are ways that you can help to promote awareness and show support for World Mental Health Day: Talk about mental health issues with others, especially children if they are showing signs of depression or anxiety. Attend events in your town by checking your county’s calendar. Donate to mental health organizations or charities that provide support and fund research. Volunteer your time with organizations that provide help to those who are suffering from mental health issues. There sometimes is a stigma or discrimination in communities for individuals who have mental health issues, which causes many individuals not to seek out the help that they may need. There is no need for anyone to go untreated. There are many services available. This is unity, this is Hillside. Hillside Public Schools just completed an absolutely monumental Ruby Bridges Walk! Students, staff, administrators, Hillside Police Officers, Board of Education members, and community members converged from all corners of Hillside to walk in harmony from Hurden Looker Elementary School to Hillside High School! Led by Superintendent Glover, Colonel Drakeford, the Hillside NAACP, and @hillsideajrotc students, Hillside Public Schools staff, Community Stakeholders, and students from Hurden Looker, Ola Edwards Community School, and Deanna G. Taylor Academy marched in honor of Ms. Ruby Bridges, the first black student to integrate an elementary school in the United States in 1960!
